Returning injured employees back to work as soon as medically possible following an injury is a major goal of the workers' compensation system.
This course is offered to help employers, adjusters and health care providers understand the benefits of early return to work following a work related illness or injury. Employers will learn how to significantly reduce their workers' compensation costs, eliminate unnecessary lost time and control costly staff turnover. Adjusters and employers will learn how to work effectively together and use the tools provided by the workers' compensation system to improve return to work outcomes.

Billing and Reimbursement for Designated Doctor Examinations and Required Medical Examinations – This webinar reviews billing for DWC ordered designated doctor examinations and insurance carrier requested required medical examinations (RMEs). Billing examples for the various types of examinations will be reviewed.

Billing and Reimbursement for Maximum Medical Improvement and Impairment Rating Examinations by Certifying Doctors – This webinar provides billing codes and reimbursement amounts for Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI) and Impairment Rating (IR) examinations performed by doctors, other than designated doctors and required medical exam doctors. Billing examples include billing for tests performed by other practitioners who assist those doctors.

Certified Workers’ Compensation Health Care Networks – This webinar looks at the general requirements for providing health care through a certified workers’ compensation health care network (network). Health care practitioners and medical office staff will learn how to identify a network claim through the patient intake and registration process. The responsibility for verifying network contracts and obtaining approval for out-of-network health care is also discussed.

Changes to the Designated Doctor Program Rules Webinar - This education will inform attendees about improvements made to the designated doctor program rules, including a less burdensome process for designated doctors and certifying doctors to retain their certifications by only having to pass the certifying test once, and training every two years. There will be information on changes to the qualification requirements for designated doctor exams relating to certain board certifications, injuries, and diagnoses.

Determining Medically Necessary Health Care – This webinar focuses on the utilization review process for determining medical necessity when preauthorization of health care is requested and during medical bill processing.
