The Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC), has recognized 21 Lauren Concrete plants for their exemplary commitment to workplace safety by awarding them the Lone Star Safety Award. This year, 17 plants have successfully renewed their awards, while four facilities are receiving honors for the first time.
The first-time award recipients include plants located in Georgetown, Dripping Springs, Giddings, and Taylor. Plants qualifying to renew their awards are located in Austin-McKinney Falls, Austin-Shaw Lane, Round Rock, Kyle, Manor, Liberty Hill, Bastrop, Spicewood, Smithville, LaGrange, Caldwell, Brenham-Park Street, Brenham-Highway 290, Hempstead, Burnet, Llano, and Mason.
To qualify for the Lone Star Safety Award, employers must maintain a proven safety program with injury rates below the national average for the previous three years and have no work-related deaths within the prior 12 months. This year’s recognition brings the total number of Lauren Concrete facilities that have received the Lone Star Safety Award to 22.
“We are proud to recognize companies like Lauren Concrete that prioritize a safe working environment and actively engage their employees in safety initiatives,” said Ray Provencio, DWC’s safety training and inspections manager. “Their commitment sets a standard for others in the industry to follow.”
Lauren Concrete has partnered with DWC’s free on-site consultation services for over a decade. The Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Program (OSHCON) offers Texas companies free assistance in complying with OSHA regulations and creating effective safety programs.
As award recipients, Lauren Concrete management may be invited to present at industry associations, mentor other organizations, serve on panels for safety and health issues, or participate in the Texas Workers’ Compensation Conference.
