Notice is hereby given that the Commissioner of Insurance has entered Commissioner´s Order No. 98-1012 dated September 2, 1998, amending the Texas Basic Manual of Rules, Classifications and Experience Rating Plan for Workers' Compensation and Employers' Liability Insurance (the Manual). The revisions to the classifications contained in the Manual are necessary to combine certain classifications with like or similar hazards, to eliminate clerical and outside salespersons from the classification wordings for several classifications, to eliminate conflicting language within the classification wordings and footnotes and to provide clarifications to some of the classification wordings by amending the language.

Enclosed herewith is the following information:

  • Exhibit 1 identifies which classifications were combined;
  • Exhibit 2 identifies the classifications that eliminated "clerical" and "salespersons";
  • Exhibit 3 identifies all of the changes made to the various classification wordings and footnotes;
  • Exhibit 4 identifies the changes to the property management codes.

These adopted changes are effective for workers' compensation policies written with an effective date on and after January 1, 1999.

Copies of the revised Manual pages will be sent to those who have purchased a copy of the Manual from the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). Copies of the Manual may be obtained from TDI at a cost of $30 per Manual. To purchase the Manual, contact TDI Publications at (512)322-4283.
